Here’s a little more about the history of Gemar Balloons ,and why we are proud to be a master distributor… It’s all about Family:
A Family Legacy Takes Flight Sustainably
In 1884, Angelo Rocca was born into a family of Italian balloon artisans. At just 4 years old, he emigrated to France with his family to apprentice under his brother-in-law, a renowned balloon maker in Marseille.
Angelo quickly rose through the ranks, starting as a street vendor before becoming a production assistant by 15. His passion and skill eventually earned him the role of managing the exclusive workshop supplying Marseille's finest shops.
At 18, Angelo returned to Italy, drawn back to his roots. In the small village of Casalvieri, he founded the nation's first latex balloon manufacturing company.
Soaring to New Heights Sustainably
Angelo grew the business rapidly, expanding sales of his quality balloons across Italy, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Production was complex in those early years - every balloon meticulously handcrafted by experts. But demand was high, and Angelo's ambitions higher.
In 1953, Angelo's son Genesio founded his own company, bringing balloon production into the modern era with a focus on sustainability. He revolutionized manufacturing with an industrial-scale factory and Italy's first automated dipping line, reducing waste and emissions.
By 1970, Genesio's cutting-edge and eco-friendly facility spanned over 1000 square meters and was producing balloons on a whole new scale.
The Legacy Continues Sustainably
After Genesio's untimely passing in 1977, his eldest son Angelo took the helm. In 1990, he officially established GEMAR, conquering global markets under his steady leadership.
Today, Genesio's own son proudly co-pilots the company his great-grandfather built. Together, they lead a passionate team carrying on the family legacy of sustainable practices.
At GEMAR, tradition and innovation go hand-in-hand with a commitment to sustainability. They continue master-crafting the world-famous "Italian balloon" using only natural latex and environmentally friendly manufacturing. Their balloons are made in Italy, ensuring the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
As pioneers of printing technology, GEMAR maintains its competitive edge, recognized industry-wide for its creativity and vision. All while reducing their environmental impact.
For over a century, through challenges and meteoric growth, the Rocca family has navigated their balloon business to success sustainably. Their airborne dreams, now spanning four generations, show no signs of deflating.
At GEMAR, the heritage lives on and the sky is limitless. And so is their commitment to sustainable style.
